Juan Gabriel Alzate Romero started his classical guitar studies at the EAFIT University in Medellín, Colombia and finished at the University of Music in Karlsruhe (Hochschule für Musik). Afterward he made a B.A. in musicology and music informatics (Musikwissenschaft/Musikinformatik) followed up by a M.A. in music informatics. He is currently working at the same institution as research assistant and writing his doctor thesis about improvisation and communication in electronic music ensembles. He is interested in electronic music, live coding and multimedia and interactive performances and installations. He likes trying out programming languages and software for making music, but usually usees SuperCollider for 'almost' everything. Juan plays with Benoît and the Mandelbrots, a live coding laptop band based in Karlsruhe.
